Valerio Tonelli Enrico is a physical therapist and researcher specializing in complex pain mechanisms. He earned his PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh, where his dissertation explored the relationships between the gut microbiome, systemic inflammation, and chronic low back pain. He also holds a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from Memorial University of Newfoundland, where his thesis examined the “Dietary Inflammatory Index and chronic pain in an adult, non-institutionalized civilian population of the US.” He completed his Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Turin. Dr. Tonelli Enrico’s research integrates multi-omics approaches to uncover biological drivers of chronic pain and treatment outcomes, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations at international conferences. His overarching vision is to advance whole-health, systems-based approaches that address the complex biological, behavioral, and environmental dimensions of chronic pain. He remains active in clinical practice, focusing on chronic pain management and bridging evidence-based research with clinical application.
