- Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.
- A bachelor’s (baccalaureate) degree is mandatory.
- Applicants with degrees from outside the U.S. or Canada must complete a minimum of 60 credit hours at a U.S. or Canadian accredited institution, including all required prerequisite course work.
- All coursework can be in person or virtual. All prerequisite coursework must be completed at an educational institution accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies:
- Accrediting Commissions for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC)

Coursework completed through institutions, organizations, or providers accredited by other entities, including but not limited to the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), will not be accepted toward prerequisite requirements. This includes coursework completed through alternative credit providers, online learning platforms, competency-based programs, examination-based credit, or similar sources (e.g., Sophia Learning, CLEP, DSST, StraighterLine, Study.com), even if such coursework later appears on the transcript of an otherwise accepted institution as transfer credit or prior learning credit.
To be eligible, the original source of instruction must meet the accreditation standards listed above. Credit awarded by an institution on behalf of coursework completed through a non-approved provider will not satisfy prerequisite requirements.

- Applicants who have earned a degree outside the U.S. or Canada must demonstrate competence in the English language by submitting TOEFL scores with a minimum score of 100 on the internet-based testing and a minimum score of 26 on the speaking component. Scores must be from within five years of matriculation.
- Applicants must attest that they meet the U of A PA Program Technical Standards (A3.13e) as described in the student handbook. This attestation is included in the University of Arizona supplemental questions section of the CASPA application.
Science Course Requirements

Each completed course must appear on an official transcript, with a final grade and course completion date clearly documented, at the time the application is submitted to CASPA. Transcripts must reflect that the course was completed and graded before the application deadline.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to confirm that their transcripts are updated and accurate before submitting their CASPA application to ensure eligibility.

Accreditation Status
The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Provisional status to the University of Arizona Physician Assistant Program sponsored by University of Arizona.
Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.
Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.
The program’s accreditation history can be viewed on the ARC-PA website at https://www.arc-pa.org/accreditation-history-university-of-arizona/.
